Dear Parents

Our prayers are with Miss Kirkwood this week as she recovers from her back operation.

Many thanks to the parents who have been able to assist at swimming over the past 2 weeks.  Your help has been appreciated.

We have also been lucky with the weather, hope it continues over the Easter break.  A reminder school re-opens on Wednesday 26th.

Congratulations to the new PTA office bearers.

Dear Parents

The weather has been kind for us again this week with the House Colour Day, Zone Athletics  and touch being held.

As mentioned below we have good reason to be proud of our children’s behaviour and participation this week.

I would also like to thank Mrs Lieshout and other staff members for making the House Day such a success.

I hope all the hair colour comes out!!!

Good luck to any parents taking part in the Motatapu Icebreaker Mountain bike race in Wanaka this weekend.

PALM SUNDAY  ~  The children will be attending the Parish Sunday Mass on Sunday 16 March at 10.30am.  All children are expected to attend as this is a visible way we can show that we are an important part of Sacred Heart Parish.  Many of the children will be taking an active roll in the Palm Sunday Liturgy and we need information to confirm their attendance, so please fill in the slip at the end of the newsletter.

BAPTISM  ~  Next term a number of children will take part in preparation to receive the Sacrament of BAPTISM.  If you wish your child/children to be included for the Sacrament of BAPTISM please fill in and return to school the form at the end of the newsletter.

EASTER LITURGY  ~  The school children will present the “Last Supper” portion of the “Easter Story” on Thursday 20 March at 2.15pm in the hall.  We will not be performing the other parts of the story due to the time commitment with swimming sessions over the next 2 weeks. Parents are welcome to come and join us for this shortened presentation.

BOT PARENT SURVEY  ~  Find attached a survey from the Board of Trustees.  Please complete and send back to the office by next Friday.

SWIMMING  ~  A reminder about swimming for the next 2 weeks.  Children are encouraged to wear their sports uniform.

If there are any fathers available to assist with changing room supervision, please contact the office.

Please send a note if your child will not be swimming.

ZONE ATHLETICS   ~  A huge thank you to all the children who took part at the Athletics on Monday.  Your behaviour and participation in all the events was excellent.  All the teachers and parents who were there were very proud of all your achievements.

As yet we do not know who will be representing the school at the Southland Athletics on Saturday 5th April.

COMMUNITY CERTIFICATES

Congratulation to the following students who were drawn to receive the Community Certificate this week:

Georgea Newell, Kayne McCann, Chelsie Grindlay and Joshua Keenan

PTA  ~  This Monday 10th March there will be wine and nibbles in the staffroom at 7.30 p.m.  EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!!

We will also be having a short AGM so come and have a chat and a drink and meet some of the parents in our school.  We are a very sociable and fun committee and are looking for more members, so please come along and see what it’s all about.  The more the merrier.

SCHOOL MASS & FAMILY FUN DAY  ~  After the School Mass next Sunday, we are going to have a Family Day with a picnic lunch and games to follow.   The PTA will be providing a sausage sizzle, but parents can bring other food and drinks as required.

This will be a great day for all to be involved and we are looking forward to meeting any new families who have joined our community.  We insist (yes we use the word insist!) you fill out the slip below indicating your sausage requirements so we order enough.
