Dear Parents

With this being the final newsletter of the term, I wish to thank all our school community for their help and assistance this term, in the many school events our children have taken part in.

Sunday Mass

Thank you to the children who were at our school Mass on Sunday. A big thank to all the readers, Mrs Winders and Fr. Tony.

BOT Elections

This year we will hold elections for the Board of Trustees. If you are interested, please contact me for an information kit.

Swimming Championships

Well done to all the children who took part in the Swimming Champs last Sunday. A special mention to Rohan Murray who got a first, second and a third and to Clyde White who got a second and 3 thirds. A parent has passed on how well all the children swam and that they were a credit to the school.

Car Park

You may have noticed cones etc in the car park. A water pipe running to a neighbouring property seems to have burst and the asphalt is in danger of caving in. It is hoped this will be repaired over the holiday break.

URGENT: Are there any years 1-3 students that would like to play Hockey for Sacred Heart? Starts early next term and costs roughly $34 per player (depends on numbers) and runs on Wednesdays through Term 2 and some of Term 3 at the hockey turf. If you are interested please e-mail Mr Morgan bmorgan@shsinv.school.nz.

Faith Facts

Crossing the threshold of faith entails the ongoing conversion of our attitudes, the manners and the standards by which we live; voicing our thoughts in new, unvarnished terms, without papering over differences; offering the new form that Jesus Christ imprints on anyone whom He has touched with his hand and his Gospel of Life, encouraging one another to do something unprecedented for society and for the Church; because “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Cor. 5:17-21).

Wanted – Parents and/or parishioners to take children’s’ liturgy on a rostered  basis as we are getting short on numbers. Please indicate your interest to either Fr Tony or Maria O’Donnell  marshan@farmside.co.nz . Your help would be most appreciated.

Please support our school community by ensuring your child is in the correct uniform.  In particular, school shoes and not sports shoes are to be worn.

Sports shoes are worn with sports uniform ONLY.

Hair needs to be tied up with the school coloured (blue, navy, white, or red) hair ties.  This will help us keep head lice at bay.  Earrings should be school coloured small studs.  Loops and dangling earrings are a safety risk.

The children need to have their jersey and a warm jacket at school everyday in Term 2 and 3.

Thank you for your support in showing pride in our school.

ANZ OLYMPIC SCHOOLS PROGRAMME

Sacred Heart School has registered for the ANZ Olympic Schools Programme through our local ANZ Branch. This means that if you were to borrow through the ANZ, a home loan of $50,000.00 or more, our school will receive 800 credits (equivalent to NZD$400.00). Then at the end of the year the school will be able to spend the accumulated credits on sports equipment, electronics and more. In addition to this, for the first 300 schools that have a successful home loan drawn down as part of this campaign, will receive a visit from an Olympic Ambassador. If you are considering a home loan and are either a new or an existing customer of ANZ, please contact us at one of our branches and simply mention your school is part of the ANZ Olympic Schools Programme.
