12th April 2018

Dear Parents
Thank you for your support this term, it has been a very busy one with lots of different events. Thank you to the Year 6 children and Mrs Williams for making our Stewart Island camp in Te Anau so successful last week.

Also welcome to Dean Lindsay, we hope he enjoys his time at Sacred Heart School. Our prayers have been with Mrs Ultee’s family at this time.

FAITH FACT FOR WEEK 9th – 13th April. 9th –  The Annunciation
We celebrate the feast of the Annunciation.
This day celebrates the appearance of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary to announce of the birth of Christ. Mary does not understand the announcement but has faith and accepts God’s trust in her and the difficult journey ahead. How often do we need to have faith and trust even though we may not completely understand? The Church recognises Mary’s courage in this feast.

Ordination of  New Bishop
On Thursday, April the 26th at 6.00pm Fr Michael Dooley will be ordained the 7th Bishop of our Otago-Southland Diocese in the Dunedin Town Hall. Everyone is very welcome to attend and we encourage families from our school to be there. Could children please wear their school uniform. While the Mass will be a little longer than usual the Town Hall has plenty of space if younger children are getting restless. It will be wonderful to gather with families and parishioners from all over our Diocese.

Congratulations to Corbin Watson, the winner of Charism award this week. And to all the children who received certificates.

Southland Athletics
Congratulations to the children who represented the All Saints Zone last Saturday. A special mention to Briarlee Devery who was placed 1st in the 9yr shotput and 4th in discus. Southland Swimming Champs by Rohan Murray
Last Sunday I took part in the Southland School Swimming Champs. My results were: 1st in Butterfly, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Freestyle. It was so much fun. I was so happy, that i was representing Sacred Heart School. I raced my personal best in all strokes and achieved a Southland record in Freestyle. I felt like I was the best in Southland. What a feeling!
