Dear Parents

School Production – Conundrum
Thanks for your help and support with our school production of ‘Conundrum’ last week. A lot of work went into it and I was very proud of the children last week. A big thanks to our director Nicky Rippingale who managed all this as well as packing to return to Australia this week. We thank you and your family for your input into our school life while you have been here and wish you all the best in the future. Also thanks to Verdon College for the use of the hall – Ross Buxton and Emma Jarman and students and for all the school staff and parent helpers.

Polyfest – Friday 30th August
All children are taking part in the Polyfest next Friday. We will be leaving here at 11.15 and on stage at 12.20. A note with information about transports option after Polyfest and boys shorts is being sent home today. Please return it asap.

School Completion Update
As you may have noticed the fences have started to come down and we are nit far away from completion. I do not have an exact date yet but hope to have this soon. Most of the hold ups now are to do with compliance issues such as fire alarm  and security monitoring.

Congratulations to Albert Cameron and Lleyton Hamilton, our Charism award winners. Also to Leo Duggan who received his New Zealand Chess Level 1 & 2 badges.

Well done to Jacob Humm who  was MVP for Marist Lions under 9 and Pippa Humm who placed 3rd in the under 12 Southland Surf Circuit.

Also to Rhea Mohenoa and Cruz Wanakore who were players of the day for their futsal team this week.

New Classroom Name Competition
Thanks to the families who have entered names. The competition will close tomorrow afternoon.

Fathers Day Gifts
A reminder to drop off your fathers day gifts in the containers outside the office before next Tuesday.

Futsal – Well done to Jordis Murray, who got ‘player of the day’ at the first game of Futsal.

Principals Collective Agreement not yet settled
Teachers recently won pay parity with their secondary colleagues, because a teacher is a teacher, regardless of the age of their students. But the government refused to give primary and intermediate principals parity with principals of comparably sized secondary schools, or any support for growing workloads. In small schools, principals are doing a complex job but often without any extra support, and while teaching as well. And these principals are often paid less than some teachers in large schools.

Pinafore for Sale
1 x size 6 pinafore $30. Purchased from H & J Smith last year. Available 23rd August. Contact Nicky on 027 8215 711 if interested.

Dear Parents

Production practices are in full swing now.  The children are doing very well knowing their lines and their cues.  Thank you for the support you have given in providing costumes.  If you have any questions regarding costumes, please see your child’s class teacher. Next week we begin our full school practices so the children will get to see the whole show and know where they will be sitting and when to move for their scene. We are looking for helpers.

Please also check in with your child’s teacher to see if there is anything still needed for their scene.

We need a parent / parents who can help on both nights with costumes.

We need helpers after the show to tidy up, as well as with hospitality at Verdon – taking tickets, selling raffles etc

  • Thursday 15th August from 5.15pm
  • Friday 16th August from 5.15 pm
  • After the show on Friday to help clean up our props etc.

If you are able to help, please email Mrs Buxton

We would appreciate each family donating a ‘luxury’ item to contribute to a raffle which will be sold on the night to help cover costs.
