Dear Parents
Welcome back to Term 2 at Level 2, it has certainly been an interesting couple of months as the country has dealt with the fall out from the Covid-19 pandemic.

School has returned to normal with some minor changes. Some are temporary, others we hope will continue into the future.

  • It has been a good restart to school but we have noticed we have a lot of very tired and increasingly stressed children which is very understandable. Getting back to the routines of school will help with this and  the occasional sleep-in  if needed.

  • Contact tracing is compulsory at present – all parents / visitors are to sign in and out of school.

  • Use of sanitise and rigorous hand washing will continue as will sending home any children coughing, sneezing or with runny noses.

  • Drop off and pick ups before and after school is working well and we will continue this until the end of the term at least.  This is why we have asked all children to stay off the playground equipment after school.

  • At present we don’t know what the future will hold for any school sport or cultural events but it is presumed most will be cancelled in the interim.

  • There will be a Teachers Only Days on Friday 19th June.

  • We will hold parent interviews on the 29 & 30th June. There will be an online booking  system for this.

Please look at this article from the Catholic Education Office, there are some nice photos of our school and a request for contact details from the Office for all our families.

Brett Hamilton – Board Chair
Hello everyone, I hope you and your family have come through lock down ok and are doing as well as can be expected, Unbelievable in this day and age that we would see the world struck down with a pandemic that man kind could not cure. Thanks for supporting Peter and the team with the policies that the school has in place to reduce the risk of spread within the school should there be an unlikely outbreak of Covid 19.  Thanks to Peter and staff for setting up and persevering with the distance learning content, the board have received only positive feedback on this was rolled out.

The Sacred Heart School Board has considerable ambition with the grounds around the school and have had a couple of attempts at working bees to spruce up and development the outdoor environment however these haven’t eventuated due to either weather or lack of interest. Going forward if you have an  interest with the development of this environment please text your number to 0274323018.

A couple of days prior to undertake a task we will send a group text out as to what we are doing and if it suits you will be welcome to participate. Some of the tasks the board have in mind are securely fencing all the school boundaries, creating a fitness track around the perimeter of the east field which will also double as a dry track for those family’s accessing school from Northwood, fitting new basketball hoop back board. The list goes on! Keen to hear from those wanting to help.

Take care out there and which catch up in the future.
Many thanks Brett

VATICAN CITY — With fake news becoming ever more sophisticated, people need the wisdom, courage and patience to discern and embrace onstructive stories, Pope Francis said “We need stories that reveal who we truly are, also in the untold heroism of everyday life,” Pope Francis wrote in his message for World Communications Day 2020.

Laudato Si
It is an inspirational letter from Pope Frances that calls for us to examine our hearts, transform our social values and take action for global solidarity. The encyclical captures the interconnectedness of social, economic and environmental justice in building and protecting Our Common Home.
