Dear Parents

A reminder the school is closed tomorrow for our ‘Teacher Only Day’.

A lovely pic of our school taken first thing earlier in the week.

Faith Facts
Week 10 15th – 19th (Green)
14th Body and Blood of Christ
19th Sacred Heart of Jesus
19th Suzanne Aubert Birthday
Let’s hope and pray that Suzanne will be Aotearoa New Zealand First saint. She was an amazing woman. Find all about her at https://compassion.org.nz/suzanne-aubert/

Suzanne Aubert was born on 19 June 1835. Each year the Sisters of Compassion celebrate the occasion with a Birthday Mass. The feast of The Body of Christ, or Corpus Christ in Latin, is celebrated particularly by Catholics. Corpus Christi is a public holiday in many countries (or parts of countries) with predominantly Catholic populations. In many parishes in New Zealand this is the day when many children receive their First Communion.

Week 11 22nd – 25th June (Green)
22nd St John Fisher and Thomas More
24th Nativity of John the Baptist

This week in 1964 Beatlemania hit New Zealand. 7000 hysterical fans greeted the Fab Four in Wellington. On 22 June the Beatles played their first New Zealand concerts, repeating a 30-minute 11-song set as fans screamed.
We thank God for musicians, and the lift they give to us with their creativity and talent. We especially thank God for all those gifted people and families that inspired us with their music through the lockdown.

Welcome to Logan Fulton who joined the children in Room Manaaki last week. Logan has settled in perfectly. We hope he and his family enjoy their time at Sacred Heart School.

Congratulations to Mitchell Armishaw and Raiden Harry who received the Charism Award for weeks 9 and 10. Also to all the children who got certificates.

Book Week
This week as a school we celebrated Book Week. We would like to thank Jen O’Connell (Southern Steel), Jono Duffy, Fr Tony and Lindsay King (Invercargill City Library) for taking the time to ready their favourite book to the children. Today the children were encouraged to come along as their favourite book character. It was amazing to see the efforts that they all made. The best dressed for each class received a Whitcoulls book voucher. We congratulate: Aroha = Orla O’Reilly, Tika = Kellen Lau, Wairua = Emme Sigurdsson, Manaaki = Nadia Hutton, Mana = Ella Dempster.
