Caritas Challenge May 16

Picture3 Picture4

This is an event for schools around New Zealand to build solidarity with those living in poverty or injustice. Sacred Heart children will be taking part in the challenge during the afternoon at school. Children are asked to wear sports uniform please. Each child is aslo asked to bring a gold coin to participate in the challenge and this will later be donated to Caritas in helping people in Cambodia.

The four challenges will include activities where children will get a

glimpse of what children in poverty experience each day.

  1. Sweat it- Child workers who work for little pay in appalling conditions.
  2. Move it- highlights the long distances people need to travel  for food and water.
  3. Live it –experience what it might be like to be homeless or live in a slum.
  4. Stop it- working together to protect the environment and conserve electricity, water and food.
